When you do something you've never done before, you can think "I can't do it" or "What if I do something wrong?", or you can think "Let's give it a try and we'll find out!". It's incredible how much you can do yourself, as long as there's an interest and a clear goal in mind.
Although I generally succeed in taking the positive mindset when it comes to taking on new things, getting started with the wiring system in the house was a big hurdle for me. And for a long time, my negative thoughts and self-doubt prevented me from taking it forward. Until a friend offered some help. Simply explaining the basics helped me see that I could probably get pretty far myself, so I thought, "Sure, let's give it a try!". A week later, and with some help, I feel very proud of the progress made; planning the different groups, buying the right materials, setting out the paths for the wiring, and making my first connections for an intersection. There's still a lot to do, and as with everything, I make mistakes which take even longer to fix, but it's actually been a lot of fun to do and I am enjoying the process of uncovering the unknown. Just like the game Age of Empires, setting out the troops to make the map go visible after which you can see much clearer.
